CORY LEE
biography

She possesses a distinctive Eurasian beauty that disarms the most cynical of people, with piercing eyes that flash seductive hints of her inner mystery. A blessing of Chinese and German parents, Cory Lee is a dangerous multi-threat actress, singer, songwriter, dancer and model. Initially her music caught fire in the clubs across Canada; radio soon followed with her first single "The Naughty Song," nominated for a Juno Award.

Her sophomore album Sinful Innocence is scheduled for initial release in Canada through WIDEawake/Universal on May 15th of 2007 and for worldwide release in late summer 2007. Featuring production from multi-platinum and 3 - time Juno Award winner Perry Alexander (Keshia Chante, Shawn Desman) and KUYA (Nelly, Ginuwine, MASE), Sinful Innocence enthusiastically explores society's "good girl/bad girl" double standard from Cory's own independent liberal perspective.

So, who is Cory Lee?

Born and raised in Vancouver B.C., She grew up being immersed in a musical environment. At age 15, Cory turned down an offer from Sony Hong Kong to join an all-girls group called Ris-K. Ris-K did not sustain, but Cory preserved. Eager to explore her Chinese roots and to see the world, in 2002 Cory joined another group called NRG performing in Hong Kong. Things went well until the unfortunate SARS outbreak hit Asia and Cory returned home to focus on a solo career.

Cory aligned with Vancouver - based Hipjoint Productions and achieved indy-cred with her debut album entitled What a Difference a Day Makes. Its flagship single "The Naughty Song" was initially released through the club scene where it caught fire within a week, which in addition to the Juno nomination scored nominations for a 2006 Indie Music Award for 'Pop Artist of the Year' and two Canadian Radio Music Awards. Her soon to be released hit sophomore album 'Sinful Innocence' is already generating mass attention in Europe and Asia, which has garnered her promotion and marketing deals with NORDIC AB for all of Scandinavia and the Baltic Countries, European promotion company SMC Europe (Nelly Furtado, Sean Paul, Ludacris) for Europe-wide promotion and Village Again!, a Japanese Label based in Tokyo.

In conjunction with "The Naughty Song", her second video and single "Goodbye" put her on the Top - 10 list of DJ's and radio stations nationwide. This huge radio club and radio buzz were instrumental in "The Naughty Song" appearing on the Showtime hit The L Word, with "The Naughty Song" selected for the show's album soundtrack. The songs mass appeal promoted an invitation to perform at the soundtrack's launch in Los Angeles.

The success motivated Cory to sign with WIDEawake Entertainment, prompting Universal Music Canada to get on board to distribute and market her sophomore album 'Sinful Innocence'. "Cory is the perfect package. She completely fits our model to brand artists in all areas of entertainment and fashion, plus she is just a lovely person; you want to help her win", explains WIDEawake CEO, Lara Lavi.

From the start of 'Sinful Innocence', Cory's sensuous vocals seduce you.
Her ballad "Cold December" reveals warm romantic regrets. Her first single "No Shoes No Shirt" takes a playful stab at the gold-digger in everybody, while "Sex Me Slow" is a whisper-in-the-ear slow jam to the fellas, right down to what she needs him to do.

Cory's second and most promising single "Ovaload" showcases Cory Lee in the club and on the prowl. "Part of the reason I named the album 'Sinful Innocence' is because everyone asks, is Cory Lee a good girl or is she a bad girl?" She explains, "Because I write so much stuff that's so sexual, I don't think in this day and age that young girls have to be either. People are complex, and just because you're a freak, it doesn't mean that you're cheap and just because you're emotional, doesn't mean you're weak."

Acting and music are Cory's current mediums of choice. The first single "No Shoes No Shirt" took radio by storm with the video shot by award-winning director R.T! "Given Cory's album is knee deep in singles, this record could have a nice long life," says David "Click" Cox, A&R for Universal Music Canada.
